Brereton

Our Services

Four generations of craftsmanship, care and trusted expertise.

At Brereton Jewellers, our work doesn't end when a piece leaves our showroom. Since 1916 our family has cared for the jewellery and watches of customers across Ireland — many of whom now bring their children and grandchildren to us in turn. Our qualified gemologists, goldsmiths, diamond setters and polishers offer a complete range of aftercare and bespoke services, all carried out in Ireland and to the highest standards.

Jewellery Restoration

Drawing on more than a century of experience with antique and heirloom pieces, our goldsmiths restore jewellery in platinum, yellow gold and white gold to its original beauty. We work on pieces from the Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian, Art Nouveau and Art Deco eras through to modern designs, always in keeping with the original craftsmanship. Every piece is treated with the care its sentimental and intrinsic value deserves.

Jewellery Adjustments & Repairs

From ring sizing and shank replacement to chain soldering, clasp replacement and re-tipping of worn claws, our goldsmiths can restore comfort and security to pieces you wear every day. Whether the work is on a recent purchase or a much loved heirloom, it is carried out by craftspeople who treat each piece with the same care.

Tightening of Loose Gemstones

Over time, daily wear can loosen the settings that hold diamonds and gemstones in place. We recommend bringing your jewellery in once a year so our setters can inspect each stone and tighten any settings that have begun to move. This simple check is the single most effective way to prevent the heartbreak of a lost stone.

Polishing & Rhodium Plating

A professional polish removes the fine scratches that gold, platinum and silver pick up with everyday wear, returning your jewellery to a like-new finish. For white gold pieces we also offer rhodium plating, which restores the bright, cool white lustre that gradually softens over time.

Jewellery Cleaning

Dust and everyday residue can settle behind gemstones and dull the metal, leaving even the finest pieces looking lifeless. We offer a complimentary cleaning service for jewellery purchased from Brereton Jewellers and recommend bringing your pieces in once a year so we can clean them, check them for wear, and have them looking as they did the day you took them home. Pearl necklaces and bracelets should also be re-strung periodically, and pearls and emeralds should only ever be cleaned by a trained professional.

Engraving

A few words inside a wedding band, an initial on a christening bangle, a date on the back of a watch — engraving turns a beautiful piece into something deeply personal. We offer hand and machine engraving across rings, pendants, bangles, cufflinks and watches, in a range of classic and contemporary scripts. Speak to us in store and we will guide you on what works best for the metal, the piece and the message.

Watch Servicing & Repairs

We provide a full servicing and repair service for our current watch brands, including Raymond Weil, Citizen and Seiko, and we are a certified service agent for Omega. We also specialise in restoring vintage and pocket watches — servicing mechanical movements for Rolex, Omega, Cartier, Tag Heuer, Breitling, Longines and other heritage names. Additional services include battery and glass replacement as well as new leather straps.

Valuations

Insurance valuations are an essential part of protecting jewellery of value, and we are pleased to provide this service for pieces purchased from Brereton Jewellers. Updated valuations are free of charge for our customers where the original documentation is supplied; without documentation, a charge of €50 applies to cover the identification of stones and precious metals. We ask for four weeks to complete a valuation, as each piece is also carefully inspected for wear during this time. Valuations reflect our independent assessment of the jewellery rather than the original price paid.
